[It took him forever to find the perfect ring.

He and Tatara had been going out for a while now, enough for the younger of the two to consider proposing. Sure, it took months to even muster up the courage to talk to Izumo of all people - the right hand man of HOMRA was terrifying when he was all smiles - to help him with ideas for a ring, but Izumo did help out in the end.

Was it considered getting his blessing, too?

Either way, Johan found a ring after much searching and he is beginning to have second thoughts as to whether or not he should go through with it, after all.

It’s okay, Johan. You can do it.

Johan held back a grimace upon hearing Amethyst Cat’s voice in his head, but took a deep breath and nodded. With that, he sends a text to Tatara, asking if they could meet.]

[He was going to be mad.

That was the first thought that ran through Johan's head when he finally managed to pry his eyes open.

There was some sort of murkiness that clouded his mind, making him forget just what has happened to him. He laid there on the grass at first, teal eyes blurred with disorientation as he tried to figure out - tried to remember - what exactly happened to him.

Nothing came to mind.

But there's a face that did, and it's that face that has Johan scrambling to get up to his feet. Something squeezed his heart, almost bringing forth tears that he desperately keeps back. Right now, he had to check on them - all of them. Memories of the friends he's made, memories of those he left behind--

Tatara.

Johan sprinted to the older man's temple. Was he still here? Was he still a god?

He hopes he didn't cry.

It doesn't take him very long to make it to the temple, slowing down at the familiar sight of it, but Johan couldn't bring himself to get closer. What if Tatara yelled at him for being gone like that? What if he had moved on?

Johan shifts a bit, ignoring Rainbow Dragon's crooning as he stares uneasily at the temple. Swallowing thickly, he takes a deep breath and approaches the temple cautiously.]

...Tatara.

[Johan thought he didn't have to deal with this anymore.

It's like there's something reaching out to him, grabbing hold of his soul once more. He recognizes the darkness easily enough, the way it slowly clouds his senses. It makes him grit his teeth, wondering briefly just how it's managed to find him all the way here.

He could hear the concerned voices of his Spirits, telling him and calling out to him to come to his senses.

Johan clutches his shirt just over his chest, jaw clenching as he could feel beads of sweat drip down.

This pain is nothing like the pain that comes from being blighted. If Johan had to choose between the two, he'd choose being blighted. At least then, he'd still have some senses whereas being taken over by the darkness, he'd have nothing.

Did he unconsciously summon the darkness the moment he's come to realize that Tatara, in all honesty, has more people to care for him? No, it's not jealousy, but there's something within Johan that's summoned the darkness.

He clutches at the all with his free hand, wisps of shadows beginning to appear around him.]

[All Johan has to wonder is: how did it wind up like this?

Sure, his temple is big - huge - even and more often than not, he's usually left alone the third floor of the temple alone. He has plenty of space on the first and second floors, usually spending his time in the backyard to spend time with his Spirits or going around making sure Sakon didn't get into trouble.

He cares about his shinki, but the shinki's reckless nature is enough to get Johan's concern to spark up once in a while, only dying down after recalling that, yes, Sakon can perfectly take care of himself - as long as he didn't get involved in some drinking game or gambling somewhere.

It's one of those rare days that Johan is alone with Tatara, the two of them having plans to watch a movie before there was this scene Johan barely remembers when Tatara suggested they dance.

Johan had blinked, only nodding dumbly as he led Tatara to one of the bigger rooms in the temple. Definitely not a ballroom, but big enough for them to use as one since it's usually a room reserved for recreational activities.]

Tatara, you know how to dance?

[Johan is. A little familiar with it himself, doing it briefly before deciding it isn't exactly something he wanted to pursue in as much as Dueling.]
