A Reunion of the Ages
[It has been...a long time since Ventus has been able to use her own body again. She’s been asleep in Sora’s heart for so long that in a way, she felt like she might as well be him. It didn’t bother her that she was in the heart of a boy; all that mattered to her was keeping the boy safe.
For so long, that’s all she focused in doing. Keeping Sora company in his dreams whenever he fell that deep enough. Helping a young Sora grow more confident in himself when he got down after a fight with Riku. She’s always done her best to be there for him because he’s already done so much for her. Ventus only regrets not being able to do more to help him when he almost fell into the darkness.
Though, she had hoped that their first real meeting isn’t because Vanitas was threatening to kill Aqua. Again.
Ventus helps Aqua up first before she turns to properly face Sora, giving him a smile as she holds her hand out to him.]
It’s nice to meet you, Sora.
no subject
... He's a little short of breath when he sees her. Right here. In front of him. Actually in front of him.]
It's uhh ... [He smiles warmly, trying to keep the nervousness out of his tone. They just kicked Vanitas' butt he needs to seem confident right now--] It's nice to meet you too, Ventus.
[He takes her hand to shake?? ... It's warm against his palm.]
no subject
[Her smile widens as they shake hands. Her grip tightens around his briefly, relishing in feeling his warmth against her hand.
But then she reluctantly pulls back, not wanting to seem too clingy to him. She’s gotten so used to his warmth, his light. This is going to take some time getting used to again, she guesses, having a body of her own again.]
no subject
Ven. I can't believe I finally get to meet you like this.
[Well, maybe the circumstances are a little strange but it's still nice.]
What's it like sleeping for so long?
no subject
[She can’t help but tease. Her eyes are warm as she gazes at Sora, feeling that initial urge to just keep holding his hand. Or to have any contact with him really.]
I do wishes that circumstances would’ve been better though.
[Honestly. To have Vanitas be the first person she sees waking up isn’t exactly ideal.
Still, it’s Aqua who does get the attention, telling them that they can chat in the gummi ship. It’d be good to let Yen Sid know that Ventus is awake again.]
no subject
[Sora lets out a sheepish laugh and been about to tease a bit more but Aqua is right. They don't have time to lollygag around here. At least back at Yen Sid's tower, there will be more time to catch a breather.
So off towards the ship they go and soon enough they'll be back in the expanse of space.]
no subject
It doesn’t take much for them to land at Yen Sid’s tower and the old magician telling them to reenergize before the final battle upon them. As everyone begins to go their separate ways, Ventus can’t help the way she reaches out, fingers snagging the back of Sora’s shirt as Kairi and Riku talk about going home to Destiny Islands.]
...Sora?
no subject
He's about to head off with Riku and Kairi too but that little tug to the back of his shirt has him stopping. He looks over his shoulder at Ventus and blinks.]
Ven? Is everything okay?
[The sky above is brilliant with stars and lights.]
no subject
She...should be happy she has her body back. That she’s awake. That she can actually contribute in fighting the war with the others instead of being told to stay behind like usual. Yet she can’t help but feel clingy too.]
Yeah, everything’s fine. [Ventus just gives him an embarrassed smile.] Guess I just wanted to spend a little more time with you before we have to fight.
no subject
He smiles at Ventus and his fingers touch the back of her hand for a moment before he points up at the sky.]
Wanna stargaze together for a while then? I haven't had time to sit back and actually take in the stars for a long time.
[Always so busy...]
no subject
Definitely. I’ve missed looking at the stars, too.
[While she would sometimes catches glimpse of the stars through Sora’s eyes whenever she’s awake, it’s still not the same.]
no subject
[He smiles happily and with one more quick wave to his friends they head back towards the tower.]
I bet we could get the best view from the roof of the tower.
no subject
[She gives Riku and Kairi a smile before telling Aqua she'll catch up with her later.
She follows after Sora, eyes trailing up to the roof.]
It's nice to be here.
no subject
Upon the roof is probably not the safest spot to be but... That's never going to stop Sora. They have to climb through a window and up a drainpipe to get up to the top though.]
Here we go, be careful! Do you need a hand?
[Sora's already preparing to climb up. But he's checking with Ventus just in case.]

The war that has expanded for over a decade has finally come to an end.
It has been a long time coming, but Ventus didn’t feel at ease. Not yet. Not when she sees Sora give her that last smile before he takes off, gone to find Kairi and bring her home. Her protests died on her tongue, tears stinging behind her eyes. But Ventus refused to cry, not even when Aqua placed a hand on her shoulder or Riku giving her a look that was a cross of being pitiful and apologetic. Even Lea seemed to step closer to her as if to give her his support.
She loves her friends.
She misses Sora more.
Time seems to pass by so fast during the months that came. Naminé finally has a body of her own and despite their protests (mainly Aqua’s), so does Vanitas. Months spent trying to return to a life that’s been lost before and eventually, everyone gathers at Destiny Islands. A place they can gather once in a while to hang out, to catch up. A place where Sora has called home.
She sits on the sloping tree, watching the sun beginning to set as she listens to everyone play or do their own thing behind her. There’s a longing for a piece of her heart that’s gone missing, a longing for the one who made her heart complete.]
no subject
It had happened in the blink of an eye. He had found her and they managed to get home. He had felt the spray from the ocean waves and the heat of the setting sun on his cheeks. He had been able to see Kairi's sad smile and could hear the laughter of his friends.
Everyone was home. Including Kairi. And that meant Sora could finally... rest.
That blink turned into eternity as Sora had felt his body crumbling into something else. His vision blurred and suddenly he felt like he was somewhere else. Where? Where was somewhere else? He wasn't sure.
He must have been dreaming, somewhere far away from everywhere and everything, seeing blurry pictures and stained glass windows. His heart felt like it had been floating somewhere in the clouds and among star-shaped things.
And while he had been content to rest and let the rest of the world wash away forever now that his friends were all safe and sound there was still one red string tied to his heart that refused to let him truly rest. An apology that was whispered and a promise left unfulfilled.
Ventus... He must have been dreaming of her face.
He doesn't know how it happens but Sora slowly opens his eyes and finds his bare toes buried in wet sand. He's standing on a shore to a beach he thinks he remembers. Sora looks out to the ocean waves that he thinks he's seen before. Everything looks so familiar.
Has he been here before...? Why can't he remember this place?]
Where...
no subject
Kairi has returned home but Sora hasn’t. Some part of her wanted to hate Kairi but she couldn’t. Kairi didn’t ask for this. Didn’t ask to be lost in between worlds and Sora has gone to save her. It’s easy to just blame Xehanort instead for everything.
But the red string between their hearts are firmly tied together, never yielding and never breaking apart.
She’s at the islands again after a long day of working, walking along the beach. But she stops when she hears a voice and her eyes lifts up.]
...Sora?
no subject
Hello?
[It's hard to get his bearings. Everything was so bright before. Everything was so blue and the clouds littered his feet.
Suddenly he feels his knees buckle and he drops to one. Where is all his energy?]
Ahh...!
no subject
[It was a familiar voice. One that has spoken to Sora before.
It takes a pop of light before Chirithy stands before the hero. While it has managed to find its way to Ventus, part of it will always remain connected to this boy, to this world. And Ventus’ own wish has brought it to where Sora is.
Chirithy’s expression remains impassive as it places a paw against is knee.]
What do you remember?
no subject
Hey, it's you!
[The little friend that helped him so much back in the Final World. Chirithy found a way out too?]
And I ... Uh. [His head hurts.] I was floating. The last thing I remember was seeing the sun and then everything going white.
no subject
[It 'tsks' at him, almost as if scolding him.]
You let your heart wander too far, Sora. You shouldn't be in this world again.
no subject
Heh, sorry. I guess I really am.
[But Sora blinks and looks over the ocean.]
But... But there was someone I wanted to keep a promise to.
no subject
[Chirithy follows his line of sight, seeing something Sora can’t. Not yet.]
Are you going to keep that promise?
no subject
... Yeah, of course. [He looks at chirithy and smiles.] I want to keep that promise more than anything. That's why I've gotta get back.
no subject
[It's sure that Ventus can find someone else.]
Do you remember the name of the person you made the promise to?
no subject
[Chirithy, you're so savage??]
And I'd never forget her. It's Ventus.
