[ He'd first shown up as a small red-eyed boy, back when Izumo and Mikoto were teenagers. It wasn't for very long or seemed very significant, but it was before everything had really started. It was a time when power had changed hands, however.
He'd returned and gotten within reach of one of the members of the clan as the sword in the sky started breaking apart and disappearing. It looks like the King had fallen and burnt out. Pulling the bright red lollipop out of his mouth, his eyes stay at that point in the sky. ]
The King is dead. Long live the King...
[ The new king was already chosen. So his eyes went to the one who would be the second for a second time. ]
[It's not difficult to really figure out who the red-eyed brat is, especially since he did seem to have a knack for popping up at the worst times. When Judar returned after years of disappearing, reaching out to him with that knowing look in his eyes, tinged with wicked amusement, Izumo knew it wouldn't be good. Then again, it was because of the teenager's existence that Izumo knows immediately who had been chosen to become the next Red King.
Even if she hasn't seemed to realize it herself just yet.]
I'm not going to let anything happen to her. [It's why Izumo has made up his mind to go to Germany, find those notes. Even if it might be fruitless in the end, even though he knows that Anna will access that power, it might be enough to prevent her from falling the same fate as her predecessors.]
[ He hasn't paid attention to the actions of the followers. He wasn't supposed to, and didn't want to when it seemed to be boring. Let the households scramble to try and make their red kings last. They were always meant to burn through faster than all the rest. ]
What, you haven't figured it out? I guess the last one happened quickly enough...
[ Though part of him is pleased that you seem to have found him significant enough to remember. ]
Just like all the other times, and with all the other clans. I'm here to witness. What, still mad that I wouldn't give you answers last time?
You're fortunate that you left too quickly for me to give you a proper punch.
[Even if you were a kid back then. But Izumo was also a rowdy teenager who either got into fights or ended it - usually both.
But you stuck out to him because you know about this sort of thing. You know about the Kings and the Slate and how you always seem to know who's going to end up becoming the King next.]
Should I take this to mean that you won't stick long for this one either?
[ He wasn't even flying around at that age. He just went where he was told and watched, for the most part. Sometimes it was just too hard to resist seeing the clans in person, instead of watching from a distance. Which is what he's supposed to do. ]
As long as it takes for the King to rise, I guess. Just as I do with all the Kings.
[ All of them. Meaning he witnessed the fall of the previous Blue King, and had shown up for a time when Reisi took the mantle up. He likely knew where all the kings were, and who they were, or where they moved. ]
If you're not in a hurry, would you like something to eat? [There will still be some time for Anna to adjust to her new powers and he has no doubt that the young, newly appointed Red King would want to meet this stranger.]
[ Maybe that's why his eyes are they way they are, with that weird extra ring in them. Just to mark out his life- One he couldn't really get answers to.
For a few seconds, he contemplated the question. He had to be around for the next king's rising, which wasn't quite happening yet. There was always a Moment that happens that marks and signifies who was the new King and what kind they'd be. ]
... Sure. There's no hurry right now. I've only witnessed the Fall so far.
[ There's a pointed silence to that question as he follows behind, only responding to that second comment instead. ]
However long that will take, and if that's the only change of kings that'll be happening. I'll have to make rounds and see where I'm led afterwards.
[ How he's able to do that, or knows where to go and when, is something he's not about to share however. It's no secret that sometimes there's a pretty fast turnover from clan to clan. ]
I don't really have any information to give you, if that's what you're trying to pull out of me. These are just things I'm drawn to for witnessing. The why and who else finds out, if there even if anyone else, isn't going to come out because you're willing to feed me.
[ Maybe he's doing this just because you look like you could use a sandwich, Judar. ]
[ After keeping people like Mikoto in his care for so long, it was no surprise that strays would show up. That was most of Homra, though they were human people, they were strays nonetheless. Winter was making its mark upon the city, with snow building up where foot and vehicle traffic was low.
In the back of HOMRA, the bar, there's a rather high buildup of snow on one of the dumpsters that had previously been propped open. At least that's how it would seem for a moment, if there wasn't a long black braid going off the side and half-covered in snow. Even more, the pile of snow was shivering for the most part, though the rising and fall from its breathing was starting to slow down. ]
The Demon King-maker (One to capture, one to be captured)
[ While not a demon himself, Judar was someone with access and abilities that made him very suitable to survive in this realm where demons were the lords and kings, and humans were nothing more but pets and cattle to be taken care of or harvested for whatever they could. When your energy was already twisted enough to be suitable for a demon realm, and can use this energy much like your own realm and continue the actions of a magi, albeit a little differently...
Judar kept an eye on the portals when more people were about to get pulled into this kind of 'hell.' Either as a mistake, a trap, or as a sacrifice. They were always one of those three. This time he decided to watch what came out of the latest, and if necessary, interfere like the odd stray human he was. ]
Any second now...
Edited (Because this prompt works for two different scenarios. We'll roll with it.) 2018-01-07 19:13 (UTC)
[ While Al-Thamen decided which people he should, or had to give dungeons to, lately Judar's eyes have been wandering elsewhere. For what was going to happen aside from what those people wanted. Sure, the Rens had some interesting people, and one of them looked ready to fall into Depravity, but he didn't have many king vessels past that.
The only reason why Sinbad had one of his dungeon items was through other means.
So his eyes wandered and saw other potential vessels- some were kings in their own sense, but were burning through what ruhk they had and were destroying their bodies in the process, limiting just how much they'd get back afterwards. Some were just pathetic or didn't seem to have the determination or dedication to really stick with it- he had a feeling that one would only go far enough to get some power and then start ignoring him.
There was a Right-hand Man, however. A retainer with some real potential, and while he wasn't anywhere near falling, and thus not quite as much fun, it made him interesting. While it was a whim, he didn't just jump into it right away, but instead waited a few more days. Long enough where the blond's king was even closer to burning out. When time was really starting to run out.
After helping himself to some of the fruit in the kitchen, because it's only natural that he invited himself inside, Judar goes to where Izumo was currently smoking. ]
So what if I said you could get the power to change things? Save your king from that shitty fate of his.
[The Colored Clans worked differently from those who have gone and conquered dungeons. Their powers were innate, worked in different ways, even though the way they formed their Clans were much similar to household members. It didn't stop any of them from looking into those dungeons, however, even if they weren't actively looking to become Kings on their own.
But the Swords that comes with the Clans are dangerous, and Izumo isn't blind to the way Mikoto's was beginning to fall, crumble and the rukh was growing, speaking more of an impending death that cannot be avoided.
Usually.
Somewhere along the way, Izumo suddenly found himself in the company of a familiar Magi; the same brat he had seen a few times in the past whenever he's gone to Kou for one reason or another or caught glimpses of him in Sindria. It made him reasonably wary, immediately picking up Judar's sudden interest in him, but one he hasn't told anyone else within the Clan as he didn't think it'd be important or related to their interests.
He glances over at the teenager as he joins him, eyebrow arched.]
And why would you lend your assistance to help me save my king? [It seems a little too good to come true, and for that reason alone, he's wary of it.]
[ This just taught the man that if a magi has interest in you, there was a reason and something was bound to happen. Sometimes good, or fortunate, but there was always something. Not that anyone would believe that Judar would show up for anything good or nice. ]
Don't get me wrong- I don't give a shit about your king or what happens to him. His falling is a good chance to get to you, as motivation.
[ At least he's honest. Judar didn't really have a reputation as someone who was manipulative. No, he was most blatantly the one being used. ]
You know about Phenex and its restorative properties. It's not like that's the only one that heals or can be used to save people, though.
It's a magi's instinct to search out king vessels.
[ It's not like he's actually going to explain that he wanted to choose someone himself instead of having it be decided for him. Sure, they all had potential- hell, Kouen had three equips- but they were decided. ]
Does sticking around while you do it count as something I want in return? You'd need me either way.
[His eyes slide over to him, somewhat contemplating.
He knows magis, if only by secondhand information. However, Judar is a different kind of magi; his reputation is infamous and there aren't many people who are fond of him. Izumo debated his choices. It would be easy to say no because Mikoto himself has chosen his fate, but would the redhead grow angry at him if opted to have him live instead?
Possibly.
But Izumo never did want Mikoto to die, to have Anna and Totsuka suffer from the loss of their King.
He sighs softly.]
Alright, say I go along with this. I somehow doubt the Kou would be happy to know their Magi is helping someone outside of their kingdom.
I don't really care if they find out, or if they'll be happy about it.
[ That probably had more honesty to it than one would expect for someone that was raised by the Kou Empire, and by the royal family itself. However he's been showing less than loyal sides of himself to that family lately. ]
I can already think of two dungeons where you can probably get the power to restore your king. If you get through it, that is.
[ Well, he doesn't even know for sure that the djinn will grant those powers, but they were also in the area so it was worth trying out. He'd just have to draw the dungeons up to be accessed at all. ]
[ Look, he knows people die in these dungeons, and he's never chosen one himself. Maybe you're a pathetic dud- he doesn't know. ]
You're gonna wanna prepare some stuff and let people know. Time moves differently and if a war starts because of your disappearance, I'd rather be around to witness that instead.
[ Because watching those break out are kind of his entertainment. ]
Even without my disappearance, a war is bound to break out, anyway.
[After all, the Red Clan is always at odds with the Blues and the Greens were finally making their move. He puts out his smoke and turns to head inside.]
There are more peaches if you decide to take some more, Judar. [He says this over his shoulder before he disappears inside.]
... I'll be outside when you're ready. If you've got something to travel faster, you're gonna want that.
[ Whether or not he takes some of those peaches along will be his own business. Surprise, he does.
After, just as he said, he'll be floating and relaxing in the air, obviously not worried about the fact that he was going to draw a lot of attention. Including the attention of other clans that were in the area. ]
[ He hadn't always been there, not like Judar had. For as difficult as it was to remember a time before that, when he was so young and Izumo was a young teenager, those memories were still there. It was never clear why he'd been taken in, either. Just that after he was in some kind of seclusion for a little while, and while he might've seemed a little prickly at first, Izumo seemed to have been another set of eyes on him.
Or for him. It was hard to tell. That was also something like a decade ago, though this watchdog/caretaker role seemed to have stuck. As bothersome as it seemed to be, it was easier to follow him rather than that bitch.
Especially after Judar learned how he came into their care in the first place. He made the mistake of lashing out, was brought back under control of his senses, and was punished for that. No matter, he'd be willing to bide his time. That's what he thought, at least. Then there were mentions of formulas and designed vessels-
He was still trying to puzzle it out, a few days later, even when playing with the rest of the food that was before him. He'd already eaten a portion, as Izumo had made the food, but it was still hard to follow the request to eat a little more. Which is why he was shifting some of it from side to side on the plate. ]
... Hey, d'you know about any weird plans or tests with some magic tools or anything?

Izumo glances over at him, taking in that insinuation. It makes him frown slightly.]

Shrugging, he takes his phone out to swipe through some messages and notifications. ]
